We fear people and YES! their opinions matter a lot, we don’t want to get through similar environment and get bullied again as it happened in previous school, Do we?? We tend to change a few things in us, just by showing our weaknesses as greatness. So did the boy.
While traveling, Krishna with his mom beside, watching all the trees and mountains pass by, she said, “Life is a journey. You have to leave things behind to get to the greater/better ones.” He smiled and asked himself ‘What could be better than the moments I spent with Kaundinya’. The journey was so long that he took a nap. His little sister woke him up by sprinkling some water on his face, they both started playing silently until the moment came where she shouted. The lion noticed from the front mirror, didn’t say anything. After few minutes they stopped car for little exercise. The lion took him behind the bushes and asked him what happened,
Krishna replied – “She was the first one to sprinkle water on me”.
Lion asked one thing –“And you continue the process?”
Krishna said – “She threw first so I threw back at her. That’s all DAD, we were just playing I didn’t do anything wrong.”
He broke a stick from the bushes and said – “HUSH! (Meanwhile the tears were streaming out like flood) If you shout louder I will hit harder. This is a lesson for you. Next time If I see you disturb or create nuisance, will throw you into the graveyard”
Krishna had severe burning sensations on back, he joined hands, kneeled down and said “SORRY, SORRY, SORRY……..I won’t repeat it again.”
FEAR is a PARASITE, it grew with him as the hands of the clock ticked. They joined him in the nearby government school. Everybody’s parents came on the first day but his parents didn’t come, an office boy dropped him school and went off without guiding Krishna to his class. His father gave him a letter to deliver to any teacher. Being new to the school, he tried to observe things around him, didn’t actually knew whom to approach & give it to. Luckily he found a P.T instructor and showed him the letter. He got the information and found his class.
Class Introduction Session:
The introduction session started. Everybody gave their introduction but Krishna’s FEAR didn’t want him to come forward & introduce in front of everybody in the class, So he stayed back in the third left corner bench of class and started to speak about himself in ENGLISH. The teacher was not good at English so instead of appreciation, Krishna got a strange look from the teacher who ordered, “STOP! SIT DOWN! Don’t perform overacting tricks. Just talk in the normal language.” Students and teachers used to talk in local language, he couldn’t understand why, as at his previous school St.Francis, students were actually punished for not speaking in English. Little did he knew about the people in this world who are iniquitous and look down upon others, who are actually better than them. They expect others to be exactly like themselves. They don’t encourage the knowledge you have, you just have to live up to their expectations.
The very first day went bad for Krishna. Now the rural region was making his condition worse. Every day he brought two tiffin boxes for lunch, which he never got to eat. The local school guys taller, stronger and fatter than him took his and few others’ boxes. Krishna used to watch everyone eat in the lunch hour, sometimes used to go to the ground and play alone.
One day he got this thought “What about my sister? What if someone is taking her lunch too??” He started observing his sister from a distance. From then the daily duty was to observe her surroundings. So he used to run up to her class or to the place where she has her lunch, every time he was free, during games or when there were no classes. He observed that nobody bullied her, everyone liked her, she had class leader badge. Slowly his worry for her sister reduced.
Class Shuffle :
A day came when boys and girls were made to sit together. A girl named Aishwarya sat next to Krishna after the shuffling was done. Soon became good friends, she taught him mug up Hard Words in TELUGU. Others observed their close friendship & that’s when problems started. First they caught the boy and tried to bully more. When it din’t work they warned him every time they saw him pass by them, after the school, at the Auto-stand. Krishna couldn’t break his friendship coz he got only her ONE good friend. Though he got trashed, beaten at the Auto-stand, he came back to his friend with a smile.
He valued the friendship more than anything. The other boys disliked him and couldn’t bear the fact that she was a good friend to him. When they couldn’t break the friendship by beating him up, they had to end it from the other side. Girls believe in things easily, only thing is you have to look confident and have to be popular. Aishwariya, not her fault, believed in everything they said about him. Moreover she knew them from a longer time than she knew krishna. She asked the teacher to change the place next day.
The other boys tore her books, threw ink on her dress and and blamed him for that. His life turned blue all of sudden. He couldn’t concentrate on studies. They tortured him in game hours, while playing KHO-KHO they hit him harder. His bad days started when his only friend left by listening to others.
Since she left, he became lonely and silent again. The moment he entered the class every day, he had those bad feelings of rejection. Nobody cared his feelings, this made him feel so low about himself that he started walking with head bent down all the time. He lost all his confidence, friends and many things close to him. It was like he had a complete new world of desolation, which was completely vapid. His condition projected on study reports. He failed unit tests, quarterly, half-yearly and his mom noticed the behavior and helped him by getting an All-in-one book from Town, made him study day and night, at last he passed the year with 52.7%.
He viewed his study reports in a different way……
Social studies (Friends) = 09/100
Maths (Games) = 13/100
Science (Parent’s love) = 24/100
English (Kaundinya, Sister & Aishwariya) = 74/100
Telugu (Dad’s colleagues, relatives) = 02/100
School festivals and tournaments never excited him coz he always stayed at home. On the other hand his sister was very active and popular unlike him. She used to be the lead dancer in the festive performances, volunteer for various school events, etc. Was happy for her. Krishna’s dad loved her confidence, academics progress, concentration, grasping power, everything so much. In other words, she was a LEGEND, Lion with his camera covered every event she participated and was very proud of her.
She really was the queen, everyone liked her – teachers, dad’s colleagues, relatives and her friends, wasn’t scared of anything, anything she had to say she would just speak it out instantly without FEAR. Krishna was very proud of her too and thanked God for giving such a best sister. He soon realized the one thing that made this difference between him and her.
Deep down in him dwelled a patient, intelligent, innocent and kind person who never judged anyone. All these were forced to perish due to a single factor – “FEAR, FEAR, FEAR”. FEAR imparted in children, either by parents, teachers or students, stays with them forever. ‘Be truthful, kind and respect other’s friendship’ said the boy to himself, this is when the boy started creating his own principles and boundaries in his mind and lived with those moral values.
